About the Book:

Elise knows every inch of the house. She knows which boards will creak. She knows where the gaps are in the walls. She knows which parts can take her in, hide her away. It’s home, after all. The home her parents made for her. And home is where you stay, no matter what.

Eddie calls the same house his home. Eddie is almost a teenager now. He must no longer believe in the girl he sometimes sees from the corner of his eye. He needs her to disappear. But when his older brother senses her, too, they are faced with a question: how do they get rid of someone they aren’t sure even exists?

And, if they cast her out, what other threats might they invite in?

Review:

First of all, what an excellent premise for a book! I've recently heard stories of people living in walls and attics without the knowledge of the home owners and what a terrifying concept?!

As far someone who lives in the walls goes though, Elise is very harmless. She's so young and just wants to keep this connection to her parents now that they're gone. It's quite heartbreaking and just makes you want to take her in and protect her!

The family who live in the house aren't the enemy either but the villain of the piece is so crazy and terrifying! It's hard to expand on that without spoiling anything but Gnuse has written a brilliant book with interesting characters who you can't help but love and a tense storyline. My only criticism was the abrupt ending, but only because I'd have liked to know more detail about the future.

I've seen this marketed as Gothic, which I wouldn't say it was, but it's definitely something different and I'm glad I preordered it. The pages on this Waterstones edition are beautiful too!
